Owners Michael and Angela Grier do what they love most: working with pets and
their human families. They merged this love and knowledge of pets with their
corporate skills and built a premiere dog walking & pet sitting service.
As their company grew to over 10,000 pet care visits annually, they
found that many of the dogs under their care needed additional help from
better leash manners and household ranking to separation anxiety. Good Dog
University® was created to bring solutions to these and
other concerns.
With their success the Griers also became involved in aiding animal
welfare organizations. During this time they soon discovered that
approximately fifty percent of all dogs born in the United States do
not live to see their second birthday. Equally startling was the fact
that of the millions of dogs brought to shelters each year, 85-90%*
of them end up there simply because of lack of training.
As parents must deal with their children's "terrible twos," likewise they can
suffer through their dog's "canine adolescence" - 9 to 18 months old. Sadly, this
is the average age of dogs in shelters, but with proper training this fate could
be avoided.
With this understanding, Good Dog University's mission is quite clear - to be a
strong support system to families in creating well-mannered and happy family pets.
When you enroll your dog in a Good Dog University® program a portion of the
tuition is allocated to help animals in need.
